Aaron Fried

Currently a professor of Anatomy and Physiology. Twenty-one years of experience teaching science at the college level. Experienced at teaching Anatomy and Physiology, Gross Anatomical Dissection, Neuroanatomy, General Biology, Instructional Design, and Methods of Teaching in Science Instruction. Dedicated to the use of human donor dissection and human and animal tissues for learning and instruction. Well practiced in the use of technology as an adjunct to teaching. Committed to collegial service and active on the College-Wide Curriculum Committee and MVCC Professional Association. Active member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) and nationally recognized guest lecturer on the history of body donation specializing in the history of body use in NAZI Germany.

2021 Winner of the MVCC Eye of the Hawk Award for Group Assessment – Recognizes outstanding achievement in the area of outcomes assessment on the part of an individual faculty or staff member or group of faculty or staff members

2020 Winner of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service Award

2020 Winner of the MVCC Altitude Award – This award is an annual recognition for outstanding innovation and/or entrepreneurial achievement within the scope of college operations.

2019 Winner of the MVCC Excellence in Faculty Service Award

2019 Fall Winner of the Heart of the Hawk Award – The MVCC Heart of the Hawk is awarded to a member of the full time teaching faculty who has recently shown excellence through specific achievement in one or more of the following areas: learning, accessibility, collaboration, excellence, operational efficiency, or integrity. 

2014 Winner of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society Sam Drogo Technology in the Classroom Award

Other duties:

  • Currently serving as co-facilitator for Guided Pathways at MVCC, serving as Curriculum Liaison to the Guided Pathways Steering Council. Served on General Studies Workgroup, Chairing the Design, Analysis, and Assessment of Learning Workgroup, and working as Implementation Facilitator for an Intake and On-Boarding Implementation Team.
  • Developed and implemented College-Wide Program Mapping, January 2019.
  • Developed and implemented College-Wide Equity Data Summit including a Steps to Enroll Simulation, Data Discussion Facilitation Planning, and development and deployment of MVCC’s Equity Scorecard, 2019.
  • Developed human physiology activities for Human Anatomy and Physiology labs including: EMG, ECG, Spirometry, and Exercise Physiology.
  • All A&P sections include human gross anatomy and work with human donors and human donors tissue preparations.
  • Aide with human donor dissection course.
  • Worked with Pearson on a development project creating content for their adaptive homework system including content development and field-testing.
  • Serve on Campus Wide Curriculum Committee: 2012 – Present. Chair: Fall 2014 – Present.
  • Served as Chair of the Life and Health Sciences Curriculum Committee: Fall 2014 – Spring 2015.
  • Served as chair of Life and Health Sciences Professional Development Committee and as a member of the All-Academic Unit Professional Development Committee: Fall 2013 – Spring 2015.
